Azopt eye drops are useful in treating increased fluid pressure inside the eyes. It contains 5ml or 1% of Brinzolomide in it. The manufacturer for eye drops is Alcon Laboratories. It is a topical carbonic anhydrase inhibitor commonly available in the form of a solution. It is useful in the treatment of intraocular hypertension and opens angled glaucoma (a developing condition that can lead to loss of vision). Lowering of eye pressure can distress the vision problem.

This eye drop is a highly specific, reversible and non-competitive inhibitor of CA (Carbonic Anhydrase II) involved in aqueous humour secretion. It helps reduce intraocular pressure. The eye drop is sometimes useful alone or in combination with other eye drops to help treat eye pressure. The eye-drops help control the problem of glaucoma but do not cure it. The eye-drops are not addictive.

Dosage

• Use a single drop of Azopt eye drops 3 times in a day or as directed.
• Do not skip or double the dosage.
• Use the eye drops only when needed and try not to blink or rub your eye with the use of eye drops.
• While using any other eye drops, make a gap of at least 15 minutes.
• Avoid inadequate amount of use of eye drops.

Precautions

• Avoid the use of Azopt with salicylates such as aspirin, Novasal, Doan’s Extra Strength, Salflex, Tricosal.

• Strongly avoid the use if you are allergic to any of the key substances of the medicine.
• The eye drops are for external use only.
• Try not to take eye drops without consultation if you have an eye infection, kidney or liver problem, and any other eye medical history.
