Duovir N tablet is a combination of three antiviral medicines. The combination of Lamivudine (150mg), zidovudine (300mg) and Nevirapine (200mg) active ingredients help prevent HIV virus from multiplying. The increase in white blood cell count in the body helps reduce the amount of virus. The manufacturer of the medicine is Cipla Ltd. Both zidovudine and lamivudine belong to a nucleoside analogue class that terminates the growth of DNA chain. Nevirapine is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor and acts directly by inhibiting RT. All the active salt has its own benefits.
The medicine absorbs readily when taken and reacts on the virus in the body to help prevent them from increasing or multiplying. The combinational therapy helps in the treatment of HIV infected persons. The drug helps increase in CD4 cells in the body. Dosage
The dose of Duovir N should be used only when recommended by the doctor. It should be swallowed as a whole without breaking or chewing it. Do not try to double the dose as it might cause severe side effects. You can take the medicine with or without food.
